It’s a bug’s life. Summertime means that insects are all thawed out and ready to wreak havoc on our homes. So how can you defend yourself?
First thing is first, bugs will not go where they can breed or feed. Mosquitos need water to lay their eggs, so if you have areas of stagnant water you will want to dry them out. The same goes for preventing cockroaches who also have a water dependency. If you want to keep ants and flies away, keep your house clean and tidy. Sweep up crumbs and other food particles quickly, because if an ant finds food, he’s going to head back home and tell all his friends. Suddenly your house becomes every ant’s favorite place to eat out. (Note: if you see an ant alone, you may want to deal with it accordingly – he’s a messenger)
Next, do a quick house inspection. Fill in cracks and holes that might let in outside intruders or allow them to hide from you. If you enjoy keeping your windows and doors open, add screens. If during your inspection you catch some signs of an infestation, then call a professional and have it handled quickly. Don’t waste time and give them a chance to populate further.
